This video is the first in a series that Pilates Anytime is releasing about the business of Pilates, which is included within your monthly subscription price. We are designing this video series for the Pilates Instructor and Pilates Studio Owner. We welcome your feedback on whether or not you found the information in this video useful, how we can make the video better, and any ideas or suggestions for what you would like to see relating to the business of Pilates.
Join Shawn Healey in his discussion, Employee vs Contractor where you will learn the differences between being classified as an employee or as an independent contractor. He discusses some of the misconceptions people have about independent contractors and the responsibilities of the Pilates studio owner and the employee/contractor.
The general rule is that an individual is an independent contractor if the payer has the right to control or direct only the result of the work and not what will be done and how it will be done. Shawn also discusses whether the studio or the employee/independent contractor is responsible for the equipment, who the clients belong to, who is responsible for paying the insurance, and much more. This information can help you decide which option is better for you.
