I started doing Pilates 5 years ago to regain my strength after the birth of my son. i started with a DVD that i purchased online, and later discovered Pilates Anytime. I have never had a professional class, but i have made a lot of progress with the help of Pilates Anytime. What are the benefits of work with equipment? Could i get a lot farther with the help of a professional class? i enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working out at home. Just curious...
Yvonne ~ We are glad to hear that your Pilates practice has progressed with our videos! There are many benefits to both the Mat and the equipment, and I think it is great if you can experience it all! The Mat work is technically harder because you have to create your own resistance, while the springs on the equipment can help you with that. The springs can be used to assist you or challenge you depending on the piece of apparatus and the exercise. Everything you learn about your body can be applied to the exercises on the Mat. There are some pieces of equipment that don't take up much space so you can always add them to your home if you like them after trying them in a studio. There are also small props that you can add to your Mat work that will allow you to add more variety to your Mat work if you don't already own them. I hope this helps!
