Class Programming

Ami E
Hello everyone, I am newly qualified in Stott Pilates and trying to plan some classes, however I feel so overwhelmed! As a former dancer and dance teacher I thought teaching pilates would come naturally but I'm finding it very difficult to structure a class, and maybe comparing it too much to dance class where there is a set structure. I'd really appreciate some help and advice on how people go about structuring their classes. Many Thanks in advance Ami

In Classical Pilates we have a system where the sessions/classes are divided into four parts - Part A, B, C and D.  Part A and B are reformer and mat and can be interchanged or combined, Part C is individual needs and Part D is ending.  What you do depends on the level of the class.  For example a Level 1 (Beginner) I would start with Part A mat work (the first 7-10 Mat exercises), then Part B move over to the reformer for the beginner reformer exercises (footwork, tendon stretch, hundred, leg circles, frog, stomach massage, short box, elephant, knee stretches, running and pelvic lift), Part C is individual needs and will vary and Part D is ending, Wall Ending or maybe magic circle arms/legs.  Maybe think of structuring a class along those lines.
