Kerry studied at the Harkness Ballet and then later danced for the Eglevsky Ballet when he had knee surgery with Dr. William Liebler, a protégé of Dr. Henry Jordan.

Dr. Liebler sent Kerry to Carola Trier for rehabilitation. He eventually trained with her to teach in the studio and worked there for five years.
