What does Pilates mean to you?
I love to watch Pilates, I love to teach Pilates and I love to do Pilates. To me, Pilates is more than a great workout, it’s a lifestyle!
What originally motivated you to try Pilates?
Coming from a traditional strength training background, I tried Pilates not only because I believed I could be stronger but I also longed for a deeper understanding of my body and movement.
In one word, describe your first Pilates experience?
Life-changing.
Do you practice a particular style of Pilates?
As a teacher, I draw on the scientific basis of Physiotherapy, my training with
Polestar® Pilates as well as my own research and experiences. Each and every one of my clients has taught me something and I’ve been lucky enough to work with some very talented instructors as well. I like to think my style of teaching is where the art of movement meets the science of movement.
Your favorite Pilates exercise?
My favourite Pilates exercise would have to be Shoulder Stand on the Ladder Barrel. This is an exercise that I really had to work hard on to master and it gave me such a sense of achievement when I finally did. I’m a big fan of any of the inverted repertoire, there’s something invigorating about being upside down!
Your favorite workout clothes?
I have my fair share of
Lululemon like most other instructors but I’m really into
Toe Sox too. I have a different pair for every day of the week.
How do you use Pilates Anytime?
I use Pilates Anytime to maintain my own body when I’m not instructing, but I also love it for the fun and challenging new repertoire ideas.
What do you appreciate most about your body?
When it comes to my body, I’m very appreciative of its ability to surprise me.
An indulgence you would never forgo?
As much as I enjoy an early morning mat class, I do honour my body with the occasional sleep in!
