Terrific Rael and Kristi, thank you. This and your first foam roller workout include movements that are so needed by so many. I particularly love the flow in this one.
Dear Rael it is so amazing to see you and specially listtening to you teaching this wonderfull body work "Pilates". Actually l would like to think loud and make a comment or questions about the Rotation excersice with the rloller behind the back or a modification of Criss cross on the roller...l found it is one of the most difficult excersice to teach and practice. There are many ways how you can get more or lass always the sense of stability practicing this exercise and this depending as well of your concentration or conecctions in the moment of practice. Mostly people with flexible body will do this exercise easyly but with tendence of overrotetion as you said ... and thanks a lot for the word "overrotation".. l love it. l see this "overrotation" too in my custumers sometimes but what about people with advanced ages or less flexible body, spine practicing this exercice "criss cross"? Thanks a lot for your advices.
Dear Lady Luz Diaz, great to hear from you and thank you for your kind words. I am pleased you enjoyed my comments about rotation. First, many people tend to laterally flex more than rotate in the criss cross. This is due to not recruiting the correct muscles. (When rotating to the left the right external oblique and the left internal oblique should fire). Second they tend to lose the flexion component. (This is usually due to fatigue). My recommendation with anyone is to maximize spinal flexion and then add moderate rotation (of course moderate is subjective to the person). The same principle will apply with those limited in mobility; their rotation will be very modest. Safety is also a concern as flexion plus rotation could be contraindicated for some people, but that is entering into a different discussion. I hope this helps. Sending much love.
Dear Rael I am crazy for you, you can not image how much happy I am after reading your answer with your deepest wisdom in this theme, Thanks you so much. I am following you with your advices. Yes, this lateral movement in the spine trying to do this exercise criss cross is very typical. I have observed that as wellI many times. Fortunately with some Pilates modficated exercises we can make understand people sometimes how is the best way to practice this exercise. l hope in the future to visit you in one of your Teacher trainings and enjoy you live !!I wish you a wonderful day!
