Thanks so much Tom. Definitely a great idea before mat work. Also being in winter in Canada, everyone is in boots, which messes everyone up, so this has been a big focus when I teach for the winter.
I loved ‘what the foot’ and have been trying to decide whether or not to do the course. Now that you (one of my Pilates heroes) have recommended it- I’m in. Thanks, great class
These recents classes with Tom have all been great and very educational. I have also started reading What the Foot! and watched some of Gary's videos. Interesting stuff!
Tom - very helpful set of classes (as have been prior classes focusing on functional movement). My body has re-learned basic movements/loading of the right muscles in the right order...so thank you. Question for you - I'm using these as warmups for tennis rather than static stretching. If one is using AIM to regain mobility, is there a need under that philosophy for static stretching?
Hi Patricia, Great question. I think these are a much better option than static stretching prior to exercise. There more in line with how the body decelerates and transfers force. Static stretches can be beneficial for areas of the body that have become very tight and compressed. I would always consider each static stretch a full body exercise to connect the stretch to the entire body and posture to get the most benefit. All the best!
