Christine was "bitten by the movement bug" from the beginning. Playing sports as a
child, training in ballet throughout high school, and having a professional
contemporary/modern dance career with Red Bucket Dance Theatre and TwoPoint4
Dance Theatre (2011-2019), she has continuously explored many genres of movement.

Having a parent in the movement world (her father, Michael Crooks, is a physical
therapist of 40+ years) also sparked Christine's interest in the science behind the art of
movement. She started her formal movement education path in college achieving a
Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from CSU Sacramento (2011), as well as a Minor in
Dance.
Going through a slight quarter-life crisis (no big deal! haha) jolted Christine to figure out
next steps after college. She remembered taking ONE "dance conditioning class" from
Karen Clippinger at a college dance festival in 2009, which turned out to be Pilates!
Since she loved it so much, in 2013 Christine started her journey to become a Pilates
instructor with BASI (Body Arts and Science International) under the mentorship of
Karen Clippinger in her Comprehensive Dance Specialization program. Receiving her
degree was hugely valuable, though her time working in Pilates Studios, gyms and
clinics (mainly Madison Avenue Physical Therapy) instilled an understanding of
movement assessment that she credits to those mentors (Michael Crooks, Karen
Clippinger, Joy Puleo, Nora St. John and many others). In the years following, she has
had the privilege of teaching in wonderful studios in the Sacramento area, leading up to
my own independent practice, and now expanded into Orange County where she is
based.
Taking her teaching journey further, Christine became a Balanced Body Educator
(2019), a National Pilates Certified Teacher (2022) and a Konnect Method Educator
(2023). Learning from Joy Puleo, Nora St. John, Viktor Uygan and many more great
minds from the global movement community has been enriching for her beyond words.
Christine has recently joined the Balanced Body Education Department (2023) as the
Curriculum Program Coordinator, which is a challenging yet fun new "hat" to wear! She
thrives in supporting Balanced Body Pilates On Tour conferences, representing in the
fitness conference circuit (i.e. IDEA World, IHRSA, etc.), and now presenting workshops
internationally.
In maintaining a continuous goal of expanding movement knowledge, she utilizes her
mechanical and kinesiological understanding along with innovations of contemporary,
Pilates rooted movement. To put it simply, she strives to continue working with people,
learning from a multitude of perspectives, and to help every body find their most
balanced, quality of movement, while feel good doing it!
