Hi, everyone. Amy Haven's here talking about short spine. We have options. Bentney, straight leg. The ultimate goal is being able to roll up the spine from the tailbone all the way to the upper back between the shoulder blades with control. 2 red springs lying on your back. Please place your feet and your straps at the same time.

The goal to be able to roll up from the tailbone to the shoulder girdle with control. If we start with bent legs, If you're a non flexible person, if you're teaching a non flexible person, you have just taught them how to roll up from the base of the spine to the shoulder girdle with control. An ultimate goal would be to have the client with straight legs. Or you with straight legs to be able to go from the tailbone articulating up to the shoulder girdle with control Coming down with control, but we're talking about the going up here, the ultimate goal. So you have options.

We're here to show this for you. You can bend your legs You can keep them straight, work towards straight legs, but don't be afraid to do bent legs for a while as you're building the strength and the flexibility. Thank you.

Thank you Amy!  I appreciate your classes and this little one minute nugget is very helpful.  Quick question - what do you call "Feet in Straps Bent Knee Roll Up from Tailbone to Shoulder Girdle".  I'm always curious about exercise names and their shorthand when I'm writing out class plans.  Thanks again.
Melissa G the true name of this exercise is Short Spine Massage, as the tutorial outlines.  We wanted me to show a few ways to offer options.  No need for shorthand, the name is Short Spine (Massage).  Hope this helps!
Thank you for your reply.  I appreciate the clarification.  There are so many ways to teach Short Spine (massage).  I was curious if when you break it down into component parts, or invite clients to explore modifications (such as bent knees) if the name of the exercise changes.  Your explanation clarifies that it's Short Spine (massage), regardless of modifications or leg movement choreography.  It's the "base" exercise that matters.  Thank you Amy.
