Loved it! Loved that you incorporated all 4 movements. Pilates is usually almost only abs and flexion, and I do have other muscles and body parts that need strength and flexibilyt too. Wonderful class!
Love the movements and flow, so much fun! Do have any thoughts on pilates for those with problems with their handwrists? A lot of great pilates movements include hands on the mat and to some participants in my classes I have tried to suggest elbow or standing on their fist. Thank you from Norway.
Hi Anette K — Natalia from the Pilates Anytime team here — I am also a certified instructor! 👍
For clients that may have limitations with placing weight on the wrists, moving to placing weight on the elbows instead is a great alternative! In addition, if you happen to have a Box, EXO Chair, or Springboard with a bar, you could have clients perform alternative versions of the exercise with the upper body supported on these apparatuses. By elevating the upper body, this allows for less pressure on the wrists.
We hope these alternatives are helpful in your classes! If you have nay additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
Hi Anette K, Thank you for writing! It is tricky to give a clear universal suggestion for wrists. When there is an injury, often times range of motion is limited and the person needs to modify...fists, elbows even a dumbbell works for limited wrist flexibility. That said, when there is not a specific injury, more often than not, a person can gain ability to "stand on hands" by creating a more solid base. practice makes better! I usually ask people to work in quadruped to help gain writ flexibility, shoulder stability and more agility in the position!! hope this helps!!
